Postdoctoral scholarship: Modeling nanoscale subvesicular electrochemical measurements

The scholarship holder will collaborate with other researchers to construct nanometer pores at the tips of nano electrodes. They will develop computer models to understand the analysis of the vesicle dense core via a pore size that is intermediate between the vesicle and dense core diameters. The goal will be to measure the transmitter and ATP content of vesicles in a cell model of neurotransmission to understand the actions of drugs on these parameters. The holder will then collaborate to carry out measurements at nerve cells in an organism (Drosophila melanogaster) to test if these parameters also affect fully functional nerve cells.

Scholarship period: The scholarship covers a period of 24 months.

• To be eligible for a post-doc scholarship at the recipient must hold a PhD degree within a relevant field. The applicant must not have been employed at University of Gothenburg in the past two years.
• Applications for this scholarship need to have experience with basic electrochemical methods, ion transfer behaviors in pipettes (nano- or micro-) modified by polyelectrolyte brushes, aimed at the fusion of unique electrochemical behaviors with in vivo analysis; have an good understanding of ion current rectification (ICR) at the polyelectrolyte brushes modified micropipettes; construction and application of ATP aptamer biosensors; and be well versed with developing finite-element simulations with COMSOL Multiphysics.
