Postdoctoral scholarship in Electrochemical Measurements of Exocytosis

Nyhet: 2018-02-09

The Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg, offers a postdoctoral scholarship in Electrochemical Measurements of Exocytosis.

The scholarship holder will work on a project to appply amperometric methods at ultrasmall electrodes to quantify and measure dynamics of transmitters from cells. The goal will be to measure exocytotic release and compare it to the content of vesicles in a cell model of neurotransmission to understand the actions of drugs on these parameters and then to relate this to learning and memory. The holder will then carry out measurements at nerve cells in an organism (Drosophila melanogaster) to test if these parameters also affect fully functional nerve cells. The holder will also be part of a project to develop insulin sensors to measure exocytosis from pancreatic beta cells in an effort to determine if it is partial or complete release from each vesicle.
