Postdoctoral scholarship: Genome-wide investigating for proteins forming phase separation condensates and their functional roles in cells

News: Mar 04, 2020

We hereby announce that one postdoctoral scholarship is available at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg.

Dnr: GU 2019/1934

Project name: Genome-wide investigating for proteins forming phase separation condensates and their functional roles in cells.

Scholarship period: The scholarship covers a period of 24 months.

Preliminary start date: 2020 -09-01 (negotiable).

Supervisor/contact person: Beidong Liu, 031-7862584, e-mail: beidong.liu@cmb.gu.se.

Project description
Increasing evidences indicated that protein phase separation is a fundamental mechanism driving the assembly of multiple membrane-less organelles. This exciting new principle has dramatically changed our understanding toward structure and functional regulation of cells and organisms. This project aims to uncover proteins forming phase separation condensates and investigating their functional roles in different cellular processes in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) cells. The group have access to cutting-edge genome-wide screening infrastructures required for performing the project. Self-motivated young researchers are very welcome to apply for the scholarship position and participate this exciting and challenging project.

Qualifications:
