Biomedical Photonics

We use advanced optical microscopy techniques for studies of the penetration, distribution and activation of active compounds in skin and epithelial cells. The goal is to be able to understand the molecular and cellular processes involved in e.g. topical drug delivery, to improve prevention and treatment of skin cancer.

The research projects are highly interdiscplinary and involves collaboration with national and international collaborators, as well as local partners, e.g., Sahlgrenska University Hospital, and Centre for Cellular Imaging at Sahlgrenska Academy.


Thesis Prize

The prize for Best Thesis Award, Faculty of Science 2019, was awarded to Hanna Thomsen from the Biomedical photonics group!
